LeafSock Began When I Helped My Mother Put On Her Socks
I did not discover compression socks in a shop or a market report. I discovered them while caring for my motherâand while helping her through a daily task that should have made life easier, not harder.
My mother
She had spent her life caring for other people.
My mother worked as a doctor for decades. Long years on her feet and changes in her body left her legs feeling heavy and tired. When I stepped away from my office career to care for her, I expected to help with the big things. I did not expect a pair of socks to reveal so much.
Her need was ordinaryShe wanted everyday support that could fit into her life.She did not want another task that demanded strength, pain or dependence.

The question that stayed with me

The moment I understood
Putting on her socks became a two-person job.
The socks were tight, difficult to pull on and painful where they pinched. My mother could not always manage them alone. Each morning, I helped work the fabric over her foot, settle the heel and ease it up her leg.
A product meant to support her made her more dependent.
My mother was not unwilling to care for herself. She simply could not find an option that understood her body, her age and the life she wanted to keep living.
Help should preserve independence, not quietly take it away.
The problem was larger than a difficult sock. It was the loss of choice and dignity hidden inside an everyday routine.
This was not only my motherâs problem.
As a working woman and a mother of two daughters, I knew how much women carry. Long days, family responsibilities and time on our feet can make practical support relevant far beyond one age or one body type.
What I did next
I began with questions, research and real-life friction.
I studied why traditional compression could be so difficult to choose and wear. I looked closely at calf room, ankle fit, toe openings, sock height and putting-on methods. LeafSock grew from that work: not from a desire to make another sock, but to make everyday support feel more considered.
